How often should a puppy pee and poop?

I got my 8 week old Yorkie puppy yesterday and he only peed 3 times today and pooped once. I thought small breeds had to go more. I keep taking him out and telling him to go potty and he does nothing the majority of the time, and I have a bell that I ring on the door and when I ring it he sometimes run because he knows I going to tell him to potty. He's only had one accident yesterday and one today, not that I complaining...I'm just concerned. Is this normal? Also, he's only been eating a few kibble pieces and did not drink much water until I added a little chicken broth. I called the vet and she said it was normal for little puppies to eat so little. I watch him closely and he is in the crate when I'm not watching him. Just want to know is this normal? Thanks
