Am I a bad dog owner for leaving my Min Pin at home for 12 hours?

I am a proud owner of a 4 year old Min Pin, and a 3 year old chocolate lab. My first thought when reading this was "your wife's friend must not have kids". Our mini pin was the first child of our family. I was pregnant with my son when we got her. I think because my body was preparing to be 'Mother', I went a little overboard with how I treated my dog (in some peoples eyes). Its something about min pins that makes their owners crazy for them. Maybe its 'the smaller the dog, the more crazy you are'. I would not take in personally. Let them get married and have human being children of their own, and Im sure she will even admit she has slipped a little on spoiling her four legged baby. My husband and I go out of town often and try to take our dogs with us as much as possible, but occasionally we have to ask someone to keep an eye on the dogs. Part of being a pet owner is to believe nobody in the world can care for your pups like you can. But being rude about it when someone took time out of their day to care for them when you couldn't is uncalled for. Unfortunately for you, it sounds like you were just caught in the crossfire of a very protective momma of a tiny little dog. 5 years from now you all will laugh. Also, the wedding reception she will be in the best mood of her life, that will be the best time to apologize for what happened :)
