Is it okay to feed my 3 month old kitten dry kibble mixed with canned food?

I know a completely wet food diet is the best choice for any cat, but at the shelter, they fed him both wet and dry food. I, being swayed by their words, decided to get a bag of Wellness Kitten Formula dry food. I already had some Natural Balance wet food from my previous cat. So, I gave the kitten 3 oz. of the Natural Balance and a very small amount of the dry food mixed in. Is this okay? I am planning to feed it the dry food with the wet until the bag (relatively small) is finished.
