What does this weird dream mean?

I had a dream where I was delivering something to someone's house,and when I walked in, there were dogs everywhere in shoddy kennels,barking,begging for food and water. I called my wife on the phone and kept trying to get her to let me take them home.She wouldn't let me,but I kept throwing kibble out to them,unable to get in to help them properly.As soon as I threw the kibble in,it disappeared. What does this dream mean?
