I think we're both too much alike for it to work. What do you guys think?

The other day I had a date with a guy a friend set me up with. He was really nice and cute and overall a good person. He is however very shy. What makes this a problem is that I am the same way and at times it became very awkward. I also don't think it helps that English is his second language and although he's good at it he probably feels uncomfortable using it. I'm willing to give him another go but is there much potential given how we're both big introverts? I tend to do a lot better with more outgoing people since it tends to compensate for my not so outgoing nature.
